I was just sitting here watching the Da vinci Code with my Mum and Sister and i don't know why but i thought about my blog and how i don't show it no love but honestly i have fuck! all to write about. Nothing interesting has happened in my life to date broke up with my boyfriend of 4 years got rid of that baggage thank God! . But still i slyly miss him AAAAAHHHHHH! Anyway new year is literally round the corner Christmas was like the other day was not really in the celebration mood as i worked Christmas eve to Boxing day. But boy did i eat! i eat so much on Xmas day (2 plates full) that when i got into work i couldn't move or breath! LOL. Anyway i have been asking friends and family about there new year resolutions and i failed to think about what i want to change and do differently in 2013........Well simple i don't want to do what i did in 2012 in 2013 closing certain chapters and working and hustling that little bit harder i want to be at 100 in everything i do. Had a gap year so going back to uni next year not looking forward to the late nights  and early mornings but looking forward to the challenge that the course brings  I study Creative writing and English Literature. Was thinking about not going back as well but....i am not a quitter i am a go getter and i am not going to give up!  All this kind of sounds negative don't it ? well i'm not a sad case but 2013 needs to bring a little more excitement lol as i write i'm leaving for New York the next day with my family its been a bit hectic trying to sort out the visas and that but i am well excited. I have spent my new years in London ever since i can remember so this is different and i cant wait! ;) to be continued.......

Bentonite Clay Treatment etc

Roughly about 2 or maybe even 3 months ago whilst searching the net for natural hair maintenance tips and products i stumbled upon some lady called Alikay and her YouTube videos the information that she provided  was really useful and helpful. By then i was researching for a natural chelating product and she mentioned that she uses  bentonite clay  it deep cleanses and removes  hair impurities and product build up . I decided to start using it once a month specifically every end of the month  and it does thoroughly clean my hair after the treatment my hair feels squeaky clean . What i do is i add 2 Tablespoons  of the bentonite clay to a bowl and 1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil i mix it well together  add a bit of water  apply it to my hair  and then i leave it on for about 30 minutes . Rinse out wash with conditioner once then the 2nd  application i apply the conditioner and then i cover my hair with a shower cap and then leave it for 15 minutes then i rinse moisturize and style as per usual i order the clay from this site www.blackonyxworld.com



I did the infamous black tea rinse that i read about on theUrbanBushBabe blog apparently it stops hair breakage so i thought i should give it a  go i washed my hair as normal. And then when it came to applying conditioner i did so as per usual and then poured the black tea over my hair massaged it in and covered with a shower cap.After about 15 minutes i rinsed what can i say.... well my hair did feel soft after that and when i styled not so much fell out . But still my hair sheds quite a lot i don't know if this is  normal? Anyway it doesn't really have a smell i like to do it once a month because i also do a lavender rinse  and frankly that smells better to me . On the blog too they recommended using the Lipton's Pearl Black Tea but  unfortunately they don't sell it here in the UK and it is even harder to find a company that ships it to the UK not even the Lipton's company provide that service can you believe!!! So i just bought a Turkish brand black tea from my local store  poured 3/4 of boiling water to a cup then i added about 3 or 4 teaspoons of the black tea  mixed it covered it then put in my fridge . I left it overnight the day before wash day so that it can be a stronger brew even though i don't think that makes any difference anyways will keep you all updated on my progress.

 Finally got my upgrade like the other day and i have an i-Phone YAYYYY! so happy im not really technology literate so i keep on asking friends and family how to use certain apps which is pissing them off lol but anyway im getting there so people follow me on Instagram #ItsThatGirlChristelle

Hair Journey

Lately when i have been washing my hair a lot of it has been shedding or when i twist it quite a bit of hair falls out im kinda worried i read on the UrbanBushBabe blog   an article on herbal tea rinses (black tea rinses) reducing shedding  there was a lot of positive testimonials  from a few ladies. And the lady herself who wrote this article Nikisha tried and tested it on her own hair and said it did wonders for her hair i dont know but im willing to try to stop this problem  that has now become one priority item on my wish list at the moment .



Essential oils
even though i am a hair virgin in the sense that i have little knowledge of looking after natural hair i am very careful and i do ample amount of research and read a few reviews before using a product.Here are the staple oils that play a big part in my hair care regimen at the moment they are extra virgin coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, almond oil, jojoba oil and grapeseed oil . So far i have been using them in my pre shampoo mixes hot oil treatments  and moisturising sprays so far  so good and i use coconut or grapeseed oil as a sealant sometimes but my favourite has to be the grapeseed oil . I find that it moisturises my hair better you can buy any of these oils from your local food, hair or health store even online here are the benefits of each oil on the hair
Extra Virgin Coconut oil
Moisturizes the hair by helping it to retain moisture content that is why it is widely used as a sealant enhances the hairs natural shine strengthens hair fibers making it stronger smooths and nourishes the hair.
Extra Virgin Olive oil
Nourishes, moisturizes , conditions improving the hair texture good when massaged on dry scalp as it contains antioxidant vitamin A and E which helps in healing the scalp so it can also be used to treat dandruff.
Jojoba oil
Jojoba oil is also good for dandruff the oil is similar to the natural sebum of the scalp the natural oil that the scalp produces moisturizes.
Almond oil
Nourishes hair and smooths hair cuticles making hair thicker and stronger adds shine to hair prevents hair loss.
Grapeseed oil
 This light oil is easily absorbed gives hair a natural shine without leaving it too greasy can also be applied to the scalp  strengthens hair promoting hair growth smooths hair cuticles so can be used as a sealant also.

Even though you are supposed to seal your ends like every day or every other day to lock in moisture i find that when i do that my hair is very greasy and gets dirtier quicker so i have just opted to oil my hair when it feels dry . But every other day i do lightly mist it with my spray mix 1/4 water 2 tablespoon coconut oil,teaspoon jojoba and almond oil , 1 tablespoon olive oil , 1 tablespoon grapeseed oil. Or i lightly mist my hair with water then i apply about 2/3 pumps of blended beauty curly frizz pudding as my hair can get very dry sometimes but i mostly use the pudding on wash days after conditioning to twist my hair.

I can't really write down a hair regimen as im trying out different things to see what my hair wants and needs but at the moment i co wash with Aubrey Organics Rose Mosqueta conditioner and i use home made recipes for my conditioning and hot oil  treatments and i do a bentonite clay treatment once a month . The products that i have mentioned above  you can find on the following website www.blackonyxworld.com I think the first thing i will buy is the black soap shampoo and the shea butter bare in mind im trying  to keep my routine as simple and as organic as possible . But there is no harm in trying other things is there ? ...well i will keep you all posted




Last week of June ....can't really remember the day but that is when i went for the big chop to be honest it was not a complete cut because i just cut off the straight bits to be honest .For so long i tried to reverse the damage i did to my hair but just didnt work so went for it i have had long hair for like since i can remember so imagine how i felt after it was all done.Surprisingly my BF loves it im so chuffed and i got a positive response  from friends and family alike but my mum was't happy such a drama queen lol Everything was going through my mind how will it look will it suit me anyway a month and bit later i'm so loving it surprisingly it has grown a few inches :) can't wait to get length though i have been streaming through other natural sistas blogs, youtube pages and sites i know i have made the right choice. The evolution of Christelle the begining of  a journey

In one of my older blogs i wrote about getting a pair of boots well I  finally got them my DM's (Doc Martens ) they came last week ordered them from Office I was well happy my Brother and Mum hate it lol so funny. Anyway wore them like the next day it was a bit tight but I guess thats normal for a new pair of boots but like later on in the day they were fine quite comfiortable actually love them ! thinking about getting another  pair maybe in purple this time mmmhhhmmmm smiles all round.

Amber is a Model/Actor/Video vixen/ Fashion muse there is nothing that this woman doesn't do ..I'm not a lesbian or anything but damn! she is hot! black girl what do you see when you look in the mirror do you see the true beauty within you
or the beauty that the western world potray
plucked from the Mother land of course you are lost to your original ways
forced to abide by their rules and do as they say

what can i say...we are brainwashed to our societies definition of beauty
our hair  is supposed to be long and straight our noses sharp cheekbones high
and ever so skinny waist
we load our skins with chemicals and artificial nonsense once your mask is removed
you dont recognise yourself in the mirror how little do you think of yourself
to ink every inch of your black skin and call it art!
we use chemicals to brighten and lighten our skin what happened to those days when black was beautiful
we speak in their tongue and conform to their ways and when someone calls you a sell out you feel ashamed
indeed their is so much we have yet to learn as a people but that doesnt mean dissolve into their puddle
we layer our hair with false hair not allowing our natural hair to breath then use the excuse my hair  is too damaged to leave out
we wear false nails and damage the nails underneath then say it doesnt grow so im not bothered
all in the name of beauty i guess but it is  sad to see my black sistas forget their true selfs
what will we teach our children its fine to lose your identity as long as you are accepted in their community!
